Let’s set the record straight since my first very honest review was apparently rejected because I was trying to clarify a feature that DOES work. Let’s just say I almost didn’t buy this device while doing my own review reading, but I’m glad I did.I just purchased the dual probe unit and was pleasantly surprised with it’s value. 2 key points:1: When using the App, the Bluetooth interface IS BIDIRECTIONAL so you can not only set up the temps, alarms etc from your phone, but also get feedback on temps etc. The unit can be used without the app, but the interface is basic. Only option is to set a temp. The app offers so much more. (See some app screenshots)2: The device does NOT connect to your network. Once you install the App, you are connecting to it via Bluetooth only.2 potential issues I found:Accuracy seems to be off by 2 degrees on mine. That tolerance was in the description. For my uses that doesn’t matter, but for you it may.The app, upon installation, requires access to your location. I found this odd but the app can do other smart home functions. You can select location “only while using the app”. I haven’t tried turning it off in my phone settings yet but that may work. I don’t like providing unecessary, big brother access. You may feel the same…This is my initial review after testing it primarily to see if I was going to keep it. Obviously I am keeping mine. Time will tell how it holds up. I will update this review if I have any issues.

I used this to monitor my thanksgiving turkey on my pellet grill. It was fairly easy to setup, and just out of curiosity I checked it against ice water and found it was mis-calibrated by a few degrees. However, the app allows you to fix the calibration so it was a non-issue. I had no issues setting up the connection with the app on my phone and the range allowed me to be anywhere in my house while the grill was going outback without losing signal. The app even creates a graph to show temperature over time (which is good to make Sure you get out of the food danger zone quickly enough). You can set the meat type and a finish temperature and it will alarm (via the app) when you get there. This last part is especially key as I got distracted cooking other stuff and luckily it let me know the turkey was done and ready to remove from the smoker. Very nice product at a good price.

It’s a good thermometer and I like it. Seems easy enough to use. However, this refuses to work without location turned on. Are they planning to come to dinner. Do they need directions to find my house. Why on earth would you refuse to work without location turned on unless it’s some sort of advertising? Gimmick secondly, I bought this on prime Day I thought. Great for $5. Less at $23. However, if I would have waited a few days after prime I could have got it at $19. If I like it enough to write a second review I will let you all know.

It’s in agreement with calibrated thermometers, the Govee app works well, and the thing keeps working and working, unlike others I’ve had. It’s nice to read remotely, especially when used in my smoker. It has survived rain when forgotten, though not recommended. Good purchase.

so used this for the first time this week making a boston pork butt. the wireless worked great. the display is easy to read in direct sunlight. i already had a goove LED light set so it made the setup pretty easy in the app.

3/18/2024This is an update to the review posted below. Once I posted the review about the longevity and working order of the product, the manufacture offered to refund the money. I informed them I would like a replacement instead. They are sending the replacement.Upgraded to 4 stars because they promptly took care of the item after 4 months without any hassle. Thank you Govee3/9/2024Bought 10/23/23, quit working 3/9/2024 (4 months 16 days)I remember when buying stuff, meant you got a lifetime use out of it.One probe quit working 2 months ago and now the whole thing is dead.I used it 1 time every couple of weeks in the kitchen to take the temperature of water making bread, less than 20 times, does anything work more than 1 year anymore?

  7. Melanie Lawrence

Thermometer ports flopping loosely around inside the unit. The probes just plugged into an empty space and fell right back out. I see good reviews on this unit, so maybe I got the bad one. Anyway, it’s in the trash and I’ll be searching elsewhere for a solution.Updated 5/27/2023: The company sent a replacement without my requesting one. The replacement unit works really, really well. We smoked a brisket yesterday, and it did a great job. The brisket came out perfect. The first item we received must have been a fluke. Great customer service.

  8. Karen Contreras

This thing was really great, but unfortunately on the 5th time using it, one of the probes has stopped reading temps as it should. It tells me my meat is 34 degrees Fahrenheit when it’s actually 133 degrees Fahrenheit. The other probe still works. I tried putting the faulty one inside the smoker by itself and it tells me that my 250 degree smoker is only 66 degrees. Unfortunately I can’t use it anymore when I do two types of meat at once.
